I AM I

i Am I began as an accident—and became the best thing that ever happened to my music. After raising $19,000 on Kickstarter in just 31 days, a series of setbacks led me back to the raw, acoustic style in which I naturally perform. What started with guitar, cajón, and simple percussion grew into a wall of handmade and world instruments—and an entirely new sound.

The result is acoustic roots rock: pop songwriting with reggae influences, a rock foundation, and raw, soulful vocals. Think new-wave Paul Simon with the vocal power of Adele and Melissa Etheridge.

Isolated Movements

Written and recorded in Spokane, Washington, “Isolated Movements” is a dark, moody exploration of depression—going through the motions while feeling disconnected from your own life. The accompanying music video was filmed in Spokane by Slothberg Productions.

One of These Days

Released in 2008, One of These Days is a six-song EP I wrote and recorded with a full band in my home in Van Nuys, California. The songs explore religion, judgment, complicated love, and heartbreak.

Its most enduring track, “Only in My Dreams,” was written as a surprise for my sister’s wedding and has since been performed at more than 50 weddings and anniversaries.
